Pool Resurfacing

a man using scissors

This is a procedure that is a bit more invasive than maybe some of the other services that we offer. It’s not that you can give a call to a general contractor and have them provide this service for you. What we’ve seen in the past though is that people who are not accustomed to working in pools end up using building materials that have a rough go when exposed to water for a long period of time. We want to take this opportunity to go through the process that we follow in these types of situations.

Does my pool really need to be resurfaced?

If you are doing the process right you are always going to find some benefits to this procedure. If you have an older pool that is getting a bit rough and you add a new layer of plaster it can certainly smoothen things out. For the most part, you are going to actually have the need to resurface your pool when the walls and floors are overly rough, have cracks, and the pool is actually leaking. If you get to that point then you really need to find a way to make things better.

Different types of pools will have different life spans

What are your pool walls made out of? If you have a pool that’s been around since the ’90s or early ’00s there is a chance that you have pools made out of tiles. If this is the case you really should consider doing something about that pool. At this point, there is a good chance the tiles are extremely rough. Plaster pools have been a thing for a while as well. Some of these pools can hold up well for about a decade. If your pool is older than that, and you’ve never had any work done to restore these areas, it could be time.

Prep the area to be able to add new plaster or any other materials

One of the most important parts of a pool resurfacing procedure is to make sure that we remove or at least smoothen out the current surface before we add new plaster or do what we need to do. With old tiles, for example, we are most likely going to want to remove everything that’s there to make sure that we smooth things out. Then we can look to add new tiles, switch to a plaster covering or do whatever else could be in the cards at that point.

What type of pools can you help me with?

This procedure is mostly done on in-ground pools. If the pool currently has some type of plaster covering, tile, or anything like that we are going to be able to help without a doubt. If you are looking at your pool and you have no clue what we are talking about here, don’t worry. Give us a call or contact us and we’ll come by to give your pool a look.
